Titer Testing & Vaccines
Please DO NOT use this advice to replace your veterinary care. Last Updated: 7/23/24
What are they?
A titer test (pronounced tight-errr) is a laboratory or in-house veterinary test measuring the existence and level of antibodies (necessary to fight off disease) in your pet’s blood. Basically, it’s a test that will tell you whether or not you actually need to vaccinate your pet. It’s also super useful when making a decision about vaccinating a pet with an unknown vaccination history, or for determining if pets have received immunity from a recent vaccination.
Did you know…
Vets are OVER‐DOSING and OVER‐VACCINATING our pets, causing unnecessary illnesses and untimely deaths. Has your vet ever mentioned that a 7lb dog receives the same dosage as a 125lb dog and that the 1yr & 3yr Rabies Vaccine is exactly the same! In addition, the timeframe labeling is completely arbitrary meant to mislead the consumer that protection expires. It does not correlate with immunity. It’s medical malpractice to administer a vaccine booster without first checking a Titer. The veterinarian must adhere first to their OATH rather than an outdated law that would force them to injure or kill their patient!
Protect your Pet!
Don’t let your veterinarian talk you into their IDEXX lab test for an up-charge of $500+. These 3rd party labs are middlemen that forward the blood work to Kansas State anyway…yet the cost will be tripled by the time it gets to you! Once you have received the results from Kansas State, you can use those results an Immunity Certificate. Expect to pay a reasonable charge for a blood draw, which can be done in combination with a wellness check or other visit. Work together and find a solution as NOW is the time for pet owners to check titers and stop over-vaccinating!

WHAT SCHEDULE TO FOLLOW
This guide is for informational purposes and not intended to treat, diagnose, recommend or prescribe protocols for your pet. Please share this with your Primary Care Veterinarian to decide on the best protocol based on your local environment and risks. Vaccination does NOT = immunization as they are not the same thing! In order to truly "protect our pets”, immunization should be the goal since a vaccinated pet (while fairly rare) is still able to contract disease.
